Mainstage
Season
Kuntu presents four plays annually at performance venues on the University
of Pittsburgh campus. Vernell A. Lillie or a special guest directs the
plays for the season. Directors appear through the Woodie King
Jr. Professional Director/Producer Series. Covering a spectrum of topics
from local history to the Harlem Renaissance, mainstage season of Kuntu
represents the finest in historic and contemporary Africana theatre.
General Admission, Student, Senior Citizen, Kuntu Subscriptions and
Group rates are available. Kuntu plays are also excellent fundraising
opportunities for groups and organizations.
Special
Matinees
Kuntu present special daytime Matinee performances that are appropriate
for school age children, senior citizen groups and others who wish to
attend a daytime performance. Special Matinees provide audience members
with an entertaining, multi-cultural and economic theatre experience.
A dialogue exchange is a Kuntu tradition that allows every audience
member to make comments and ask questions of the cast.
Touring
Company
Kuntu's Touring Company can perform dramatic collages (30-60 minutes)
of theatre, music and dance that are ideal for organizational events,
holidays and other occasions. If desired, Kuntu's Touring Company can
design a collage specific to an organization's issue or event. The Touring
Company is available for bookings locally, regionally and nationally.
Psychodrama/Theatre
Workshops
Kuntu can design a theatre workshop that illuminates and addresses topics
and issues of concern to an organization or group. In such instances,
a Kuntu Theatre Workshop can be an educational tool that educates and
enlightens participants in a workshop environment.
