Elizabeth Van Dyke holds a MFA New York University School of the Arts Theatre Program. She was the recipient of a Rockefeller Grant through the International Theatre Institute to study the elements of Japanese Theatre with Yoshi Oida and Peter Brooke in Paris. She has taught under the Title II Program in the New Jersey School System, created and taught a course in the History of Black Theatre at the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches and does consultancy on the Business of Show Business and How to Make a Living as an Actor. The production of FOR COLORED GIRLS..., which she directed at the University of Texas at Austin, broke all-time attendance records, sold out every night and was extended twice.

Other directional credits: TO BE YOUNG, GIFTED AND BLACK at the Theatre of Universal Images, Symphony Hall and the Trenton State Museum; Ed Bullins' THE MYSTERY OF PHYLLIS WHEATLEY; SIZWE BANZI IS DEAD for a touring company and most recently, ZORA at the New Federal Theatre for which she was nominated for an Audelco Award for Best Director, 1981.

Ms. Van Dyke also has extensive acting credits: the National Touring Company of RIVER NIGER, the London and Australian Companies of FOR COLORED GIRLS..., "Candy," a recurring role on "All My Children" (ABC-TV) and she can be seen in numerous television commercials. She studied Television Production at Third World Cinema, and was nominated one of the Outstanding Women of America, 1981.
