Memories of forgotten promises leave successful businesswoman Millicent Morrison feeling unsettled. An unexpected encounter with an ex-lover from the Black Nationalist movement helps her to see the past clearly and to face the future with a new perspective.

Back from the Vietnam War, jazz musician Lee Meredith is trying to heal his emotional wounds. With the help of his practical sister Jean and his artistic girlfriend Cheryl, he finds the inspiration to help him move on.
